The Fowler Showman's Engine is one of Lesney's most impressive models, with superb detailing.
This one is in maroon with cream roof and gold roof support and poles. The boiler door and chimney rim are gold too. The chimney extension is stored on the roof, ready to be erected when the engine reaches the fairground and is put into action generating power for the rides. The wheels are spoked metal, finished in yellow with unpainted metal treads. This is an earlier casting without the extended block behind the 'Made in England by Lesney' plate on the underside, which is in body colour.
This is a lovely example, very near mint. There are a couple of tiny rubs on the front and rear extremities. The model comes in a type B box which is in a poor state with tears and creasing. Three of the inner flaps are missing, one end flap is detached and the other is hald on with tape.
