Based on a real vehicle built on a Maudslay chassis. Unlike most other Dinky Toys, this model was cast in aluminium for Meccano by BAC of Smethwick. Finished in maroon with silver grille and headlights, and with British Railways decals and 'EXPRESS HORSE BOX HIRE SERVICE' on the sides. The side and rear doors/ramps open, and there is a '20' decal on the rear. Wheels are the red 'Supertoys' type with grey tyres.
This example is in good-to-excellent condition with a couple of scoffs on the roof and a few small chips/rubs elsewhere. The Decals are excellent, with a few tiny nicks in the British Railways logos and some loss to the '20' sign on the rear. The tyres are very good and the axles rust-free. The original striped lidded box is also good, with general age wear but no splits.
