This sought-after set consists of 3 Monte Carlo Rally cars: BMC Mini Cooper S, Rover 2000 and Citroen DS. All have Monte Carlo Rally decals and racing numbers, and reflect actual vehicles that competed in the 1965 event.
Mini Cooper S:
Driven by Timo Makinen and Paul Easter, this is the car that won the 1965 rally. Red with white roof and red interior, silver radiator and bumpers, orange rear lights. Jewelled headlights plus 3 jewelled auxiliary lights, and metal sump guard. Rally number 52, registration number AJB 44B.
Rover 2000:
Roger Clark and Jim Porter drove this car to 6th place. The model is metallic dark red with white roof, red interior and grey base. Silver grille and bumpers, orange rear lights. This model features twin 'Trans-o-Lite' headlamps, and there are also 2 jewelled auxiliary lights set into the grille. Rally number 136.
Citroen DS 19:
This French entry was driven to 7th place by Bob Neyret and Jacques Terramorsi. The model is light blue with white roof, lemon interior and grey base. The grille and headlights are silver, and the rear lights red. Two sets of twin jewelled spot lights are set into the grille, and there is an aerial on the roof. Rally number 75.
All cars have spun metal wheels with black tyres and suspension.
In excellent condition. The Mini has some decal loss from the door decals and a few little marks on the underside. The Rover has some chips on the front edge of the bonnet and one behind a rear wheel arch, and a little paint loss from the bumpers, but otherwise the paintwork is like new, as is the Citroen's; both have a couple of small nicks in the door decals.
The outer box has some creasing on the 'plain' sides and some wear to the edges; one of the main flap hinges has been reinforced with tape on the inside. The display stand is very good.
In an illustrated card box with inner display stand, with historical notes on the underside.
