The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (United Network Command for Law Enforcement) was a cult US TV series from the 1960s, starring Robert Vaughan as Napoleon Solo and David McCallum as Ilya Kuryakin. They spent their time fighting the unfortunately-named THRUSH. If you want to know what that stands for look on Wikipedia!
The Corgi model was launched to cash in on the series' success, but no such vehicle ever appeared on screen as far as I know. Corgi recycled their Oldsmobile Super 88 casting and added some new features: twin searchlights, U.N.C.L.E. bonnet decal, bullet holes in the windscreen, and a roof periscope which, when depressed, makes the Solo and Kuryakin figures lean out of the windows to fire their guns, accompanied by a highly realistic 'click' to represent gunfire.
The bodywork is deep semi-metallic blue, with grey base, yellow interior and green tinted windows.
This example has excellent paintwork; there is one tiny nick on the roof, and a few little rubs on raised body lines, The bonnet label has aged a little. The 'clicker' works when the model is held in the hand, but not when standing on its four wheels (!). The model comes with its original 'Waverly Ring' which has lost some plating form the sides.
The box and inner display stand are also original and have some wear; there is some crushing to the display plinth, and the outer box has some crushing on one side.
